new National Nature Reserve at Durlston
A great day throughout the constituency, but with the
highlight as opening the new National Nature Reserve at
Durlston.
Just south of swanage this is a beautiful stretch of Jurassic
coast where the cretacious landscape gives way to the
Jurassic. The geology moves quickly and that in turn means a
rich variety of biodiversity. On my walk after the launch I
saw a peregrine falcon, razorbills, shags, cormorants, black headed
gulls, gentians, bee orchids and many more. And it was a real
honour to be asked to do the offical opening by Natural England and
Dorset County Council.
