Four years ago the head of what was Owermoigne First School came to me for help in getting the funding for a new school in Crossways. I took her to see David Milliband when he had my
job as Schools Minister. He found us the money and today I went to see the new school one year on from opening.
It is a great new facility for the community. Numbers are increasing, parents are being engaged, there is a great after school and breakfast club, and it seems to be going from strength to
strength.
The bell tower is most striking as you approach the school through the new Woodsford Fields development. At first I thought I stumbled across a mosque - but they are unlikely in rural
Dorset! But it is a nice feature, especially when you hear the school bell ring.
