8am Monday morning and I'm at the Rendezvous for breakfast with the
Weymouth business community. Over bacon and eggs it was a good chance to catch up further with their concerns as the local Chamber.
The event was sponsored by Lloyds and I was able to talk through my ideas about how we need to improve the supply side of the local economy to allow us to effectively respond to the increasing
demand in the run up to the Olympics in 2012. We need to improve infrastructure, principally through therelief road, but also looking at univeral broadband through a Wi-Max system for the
Borough. Equally we need sites for the sectors we should target for inward investment in higher wage industries and improved skills to complement a targetted approach.
After breakfast I nipped over to Conifers School in Westham to talk to Don Whistance who is doing so much for athletics amongst primary pupils in the area. He is passionate about the need for
an all-weather track and I promised to approach Sport England and faciliate a meeting to see whether it is something they can support.
