Had a useful meeting this morning about the possibility of setting up a supporters trust for Weymouth football club. There appears to be a lot of momentum from various sources behind this idea that has worked so well for so many other clubs.

The great thing about it is that by creating a separate legal body in a supporters trust, the supporters can own shares in the club through that trust. Shares in the trust are sold on an equal basis - if someone pays £1 for a share or £50,000 they still only get one vote each in how the trust shareholding in the club is used. So no inidividual can dominate the trust. This means we can ensure supporters have a legal right to a voice and information if they own shares through a trust. It could make it easier to safeguard the assets of the club. It can also complement the work of the supporters club.

There are more people I need to see who are working really hard to develop this but I am really keen to see it happen.
