Partly because of the lack of affordable housing, some schools in my area are suffering rapidly falling rolls. This threatens some
of our rual schools, and so I was pleased to visit Winfrith and Lulworth First School to see how they were responding.
The two small schools have federated with a single head and one governing body operating across two sites. It is working well with mini-buses transporting the children as necessary.
I also promised to press County Hall to finally fund the new hall so desperately needed at Lulworth.
From Lulworth it was over to Weymouth to open the new after school club for Holy Trinity at Chipmunks. This was a great development of a beautiful old stable building. The owner has
done a great job in making a lovely facility whilst retaining many of the old features.
One of my calls in the afternoon was at Asda in Weymouth. The staff are what make this store as popular as it is. They were all raising yet more funds - this time for the Tickled Pink
Breast Cancer charity.
